Sometimes I feel that if AI is going to give grades and assist in evaluating human writing, we might be losing some of our innate abilities to think, write, and empathize beyond our basic tasks as humans. However, humans can be biased and partial at times, though not always. While I believe AI cannot assist as effectively as humans do, it might have the advantage of being unbiased, treating all students equally. This lack of bias is a positive aspect of AI.
That said, AI lacks the capacity to think with the love, emotion, background understanding, and empathy that humans have. It misses the human touch and cultural sensitivity that come from understanding the learner’s context and concerns. Therefore, while AI can be impartial, it also loses some essential qualities that humans bring to the learning process.
